ArcGIS: The Complete Enterprise
GIS
ArcGIS
is an integrated collection of GIS software products
for building a complete GIS for your organization.
The ArcGIS framework enables you to deploy GIS functionality
and business logic wherever it is needed—in
desktops, servers (including the Web), or mobile
devices. This architecture, coupled with the geodatabase,
gives you the tools to assemble intelligent geographic
information systems.
Whether you need to perform spatial
analysis, manage large amounts of spatial data,
or produce cartographically appealing maps to aid
in decision making, ArcGIS allows you to use one
common platform to meet all your GIS needs. And
because ArcGIS is built using technology standards,
it will integrate well with your existing systems.

Desktop GIS |
|
ArcGIS
Desktop is software that allows you to discover
patterns, relationships, and trends in your data
that are not readily apparent in databases, spreadsheets,
or statistical packages.
Beyond showing you your data
as points on a map, ArcGIS Desktop gives you the
power to manage and integrate your data, perform
advanced analysis, model and automate operational
processes, and display your results on professional-quality
maps.
ArcView
ArcView is full-featured geographic information
system (GIS) software for visualizing, managing,
creating, and analyzing geographic data. Using
ArcView, you can understand the geographic context
of your data, allowing you to see relationships
and identify patterns in new ways. ArcView helps
tens of thousands of organizations make better
decisions and solve problems faster.
ArcEditor
ArcEditor is a powerful GIS desktop system for
editing and managing geographic data. ArcEditor
includes all the functionality of ArcView and
adds a comprehensive set of tools to create,
edit, and ensure the quality of your data. ArcEditor
supports single-user editing as well as a collaborative
process between many editors. An extensive set
of tools is included for simple data cleanup
and input as well as for sophisticated design
and versioning.
ArcInfo
ArcInfo is the most complete GIS.
ArcInfo provides all the tools to build and
manage a complete, intelligent GIS including
maps and globes, data, metadata, geodatasets,
and workflow models.
This functionality is accessible via an easy-to-use
interface that is customizable and extensible
through models, scripting, and applications.
ArcReader
ArcReader is a free, easy-to-use desktop mapping
application that allows users to view, explore,
and print maps and globes. ArcReader is a great
way to deliver interactive mapping capabilities
that access a wide variety of dynamic geographic
information. Using ArcReader, anyone can view
high-quality maps created using the ArcGIS Publisher
extension.
Extensions
for ArcInfo, ArcEditor, and ArcView
Using optional extensions with
ArcGIS desktop products allows you to perform
extended tasks such as raster geoprocessing and
three-dimensional analysis. Unless noted, extensions
can be used with ArcInfo, ArcEditor, and ArcView.

GIS for Developers |
ArcGIS
Engine
ArcGIS
Engine is a developer product for creating custom
GIS desktop applications. ArcGIS Engine provides
application programming interfaces (APIs) for
COM, .NET, Java, and C++. These APIs not only
include detailed documentation, but they also
include a series of high-level visual components
that make it easy for even the casual programmer
to build an ArcGIS application.

Server GIS |
Become more productive
by sharing your GIS across the enterprise with
focused, easy-to-use applications. Server GIS
enables you to distribute your maps, models,
and tools to others in your organization in
a way that fits well into their workflows. Staff
in other departments and in the field can query
accurate, up-to-date data with minimal training.
This increases their productivity as well as
yours.
ArcIMS
is widely used for GIS Web publishing to deliver
maps, data, and metadata to many users on the
Web. For example, ArcIMS provides browser-based
access to many GIS catalog portals that enable
users to publish and share geographic knowledge
with other users.

ArcIMS
is the solution for delivering dynamic maps
and GIS data and services via the Web. It provides
a highly scalable framework for GIS Web publishing
that meets the needs of corporate Intranets
and demands of worldwide Internet access. ArcIMS
services can be used by a wide range of clients
including custom Web applications, the ArcGIS
Desktop, and mobile and wireless devices. Using
ArcIMS, city and local governments, businesses,
and other organizations worldwide publish, discover,
and share geospatial information.
With ArcIMS you can
-
Deliver
dynamic maps and data via the Web.
-
Create easy-to-use, task-focused applications
that use geographic content.
-
Develop custom applications using industry-standard
Web development environments.
-
Share data with others to accomplish tasks

ESRI
Server Products
ArcGIS Server is ESRI's
primary server GIS product. It is a complete and
integrated server-based GIS that comes with out-of-the-box,
end user applications and services for spatial
data management, visualization, and spatial analysis.
ArcGIS
Server is a complete and integrated server-based
GIS. It comes with out-of-the-box, end user applications
and services for spatial data management, visualization,
and spatial analysis.
ArcGIS
Server offers the following advantages:
- Lower cost of ownership
through centrally managed, focused GIS applications
that can scale to support many users.
- Browser-based access
to GIS.
- Integration with other
enterprise systems such as customer relationship
management (CRM) or enterprise resource planning
(ERP) systems using industry-standard software.
ArcGIS Server provides the foundation for geospatially
enabling a service-oriented architecture (SOA).
- Support for interoperability
standards in both the GIS domain (Open Geospatial
Consortium) as well as the broader information
technology (IT) domain (W3C).
- Ability to create custom
applications using .NET or Java.
ArcGIS
Server complements ArcGIS Desktop by allowing
GIS analysts to cost-effectively author maps,
globes, and geoprocessing tasks on their desktop
and publish them to ArcGIS Server using integrated
tools. GIS functions can then be delivered as
services throughout the enterprise

ArcGIS
Image Server
is a management, processing, and distribution
platform for geospatial imagery that integrates
with ArcGIS Server. It provides fast and open
access to geospatial imagery, allowing organizations
to leverage their investments in raster data.
ArcGIS Image Server provides fast access to
