Aeroterra Joins International Network of Radarsat Distributors

RADARSAT International (RSI) of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada is pleased to announce that Aeroterra S.A. of Buenos Aires, Argentina has signed a license agreement with RSI to distribute RADARSAT data in Argentina and Uruguay.

Aeroterra is one of Argentina´s largest distributors of remote sensing, photogrammetry and GIS products and services. The company supports its extensive product offerings with a wide range of training courses which address client applications in the areas of municipal planning environmental monitoring, cartography, defense, agriculture planning, and natural resource management.

In a recent pilot project, Aeroterra is supporting DIAS, a government agency of the Province of Buenos Aires, in the use of RADARSAT data for monitoring floods in the various agricultural areas in the province. In addition, Aeroterra will be offering courses which focus on training clients to use RADARSAT data in a variety of applications. These will be held on a regular basis at Aeroterra´s training Centre in the city of Buenos Aires.

"RADARSAT will have a huge impact in the way that we are evaluating and analyzing our natural resources. Many areas of Argentina and Uruguay currently have very poor coverage. Through RADARSAT, users will now have access to complete and updated coverage of these regions", noted Mr. Carlos M. Viola, Executive Vice President of Aeroterra.

"Aeroterra is widely respected as a leading provider of geotechnology solutions. Their expertise will ensure that the needs of RADARSAT users in this region will be well-served", added RSI President Mr. Robert E. Tack.

RADARSAT, designed, constructed, and launched under the aegis of the Canadian Space Agency, is equipped with an advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). As the world´s first operationally-oriented radar satellite, RADARSAT´s unique capabilities open a vast new array of applications worldwide.
